SAP SOLUTION MANAGER ONLINE TRAINING

  SAP Solution Manager Interview Questions

What is Solution Manager Diagnostics ?
A key requirement for efficient support of IT solutions is the ability to perform root cause analysis with speed and efficiency. Solution Manager Diagnosticsprovides all functionality to centrally analyze and monitor a complete Netweaver system landscape. It also reduces the time needed to train your support organization in root cause analysis for NetWeaver. It is mandatory to install one Solution Manager Diagnostics within your Netweaver solution landscape if you run applications based on SAP Web AS JAVA. Active Global Support performs root cause analysis on incoming incidents on Solution Manager Diagnostics.
Is Solution Manager Diagnostics part of SAP Solution Manager ?
Solution Manager Diagnostics is part of SAP Solution Manager (4.0). To deliver the functionality as fast as possible, SAP has pre-shiped the functionality in advance. This pre-shipment is not included in SAP Solution Manager 3.2, but has to be installed separately - shiped as part of SAP NetWeaver - 04. The pre-shipment of Solution Manager Diagnostics does not require Solution Manager 3.2 or an earlier version.
How can I get Solution Manager Diagnostics ?
Solution Manager Diagnostics is part of SAP Solution Manager 4.0.
What are the technical requirements for Solution Manager Diagnostics ?
The pre-shipment of Solution Manager Diagnostics is based on SAP Web AS 6.40. Since SAP Solution Manager release 3.2 relies on SAP WebAS 6.20, you would need two systems that can be installed in one physical box.
What are the key features of Solution Manager Diagnostics ?
The current version of Solution Manager Diagnostics focuses on root cause analysis for SAP Web Application Server JAVA Stack and SAP Enterprise Portal with the following key features:
  • Central Configuration Display
  • Central Log File Viewer
  • Software Change Tracking
  • Portal Monitoring and Single Activity Trace
  • HTTP Analysis
  • JAVA Thread Dump Analysis
  • JAVA Performance Analysis with WilyTech Introscope
  • Load tests with Mercury Loadrunner
How do I know if Solution Manager Diagnostics is required for my SAP solution ?
Solution Manager Diagnostics is required if you run at least one SAP Web Application Server JAVA Stack in your SAP Solution. Most commonly used SAP solutions using the SAP Web Application Server Java Stack are: SAP Enterprise Portal, SAP Exchange Infrastructure, CRM Internet Sales, mySAP ERP Employee/Manager Self Services. At the start of your project, SAP will analyze the need of Solution Manager Diagnostics within the Safeguarding Planning session.
What happens if I want to get support from SAP Active Global Support for a JAVA based SAP solution without having Solution Manager Diagnostics installed ?
In this case, SAP support engineers need to logon to operation system via application sharing connection types. When opening these connection types, the customer needs to accept a disclaimer explaining the risk of root cause analysis on OS level. Additionally, SAP Support might not be able to solve performance problems as tools such as Http Analysis, Thread Dump Analysis and Wily Introscope are required for fast resolution. These tools are only available through Solution Manager Diagnostics. Hence, Solution Manager Diagnostics is an essential prerequisite to perform incident resolution for JAVA based SAP customer solutions. If Solution Manager Diagnostics is not installed and configured, your service level with SAP is dramatically degraded.
Can a customer use the functionality of Wily Tech Introscope or Mercury Loadrunner included in Solution Manager Diagnostics without paying additional licenses ?
No, SAP has signed a distribution agreement for Mercury Loadrunner. Since this is not an OEM agreement, the customer can only use this tool for an additional license fee.
Can a customer use the WilyTech Introscope from CA included in Solution Manager Diagnostics without paying additional licenses ?
Yes, SAP and CA have signed an agreement, allowing you to use Introscope with SAP-developed dashboards and instrumentation as part of SAP Solution Manager. If you would like to increase the benefits of Introscope through custom dashboards and instrumentation, or extend Introscope's capabilities with Introscope PowerpacksTM, those services and products are available from CA's Wily Technology Division. You can learn more about Introscope by contacting Wily's SAP Business Unit at sap@wilytech.com.
How can I get the license for WilyTech Introscope ?
